After graduating from Bowdoin College in 1957, Gene attended Tufts University Medical School in Boston, receiving his MD degree in 1961. Gene chose to specialize in Obstetrics and Gynecology and completed his medical training at Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
In San Diego, Gene practiced OB/GYN with Sharp Rees-Stealy Medical Group for 10 years before becoming Corporate Medical Director in 1992 at Community Care Network (CCN), a national managed care company headquartered in San Diego. Gene retired in 1999.
While living in Julian for over 15 years before moving back to San Diego in 2003, Gene was active in community affairs serving as President and Board Chairman of the Julian Medical Foundation. Gene also served several terms as Chairman of the Julian Community Planning Group over a 12 year period.
Gene is a member of the Community Service Committee and the International Service Committee of the Rotary Club of Del Mar.
Gene and his wife Shari live in Carmel Valley.
