Jan is a Seattle native, a graduate of the University of Washington, and has served as Pastoral Assistant for Youth Ministry and Outreach at St. John Vianney Parish in Kirkland, Washington since 1990. In 1992 the first SJV group traveled to work with Esperanza. There are now four weeks of group participation yearly with 90 participants total.
Jan serves on the board of directors of WATER ( Water in Africa Through Everyday Responsiveness) and is a committee person with the Puget Sound Susan G. Komen: Race For The Cure event June 21, 2008.
Jan, and fellow Esperanza board member from Washington State, Cliff Bronson, co-created the Noche de Esperanza annual fund raising dinner/auction in 2004.
Jan has served on the Esperanza Board since February 2001 and as president from October 2003 to October 2005.
