Janet Napolitano: U.S. Visitors are Safe in Mexico

Despite extensive news coverage of the violence and war against drug trafficking in Mexico, Secretary of Homeland Security of the United States, Janet Napolitano, said that U.S. visitors are safe in Mexico.
"For the Americans who visit Mexico now, who are reasonably careful, they will be safe, we have no information to suggest that American tourists are a target," Napolitano said during a press conference in La Garita near the Otay Mesa border crossing.
"The only fear I have is if someone is caught, who should not be, in the midst of an incident of violence in Tijuana, but again, all indicators are that if people stay in the tourist areas and walk with care, they do not need to be afraid," added the secretary.
