Tijuana is Alive and Well
Letter from Dan Henderson, Esperanza Board President
Yesterday, March 18, 2009, I went to the Esperanza Posada and Clinic to kick-off a $47,000 Rotary Matching Grant for audio-visual and kitchen equipment for the new Promatora Building. The Promatora building is stunning and nearing completion. In addition, the Posada looks great, the gardens are flourishing.
But of greater interest is the impressions of Tijuana. The city is bustling as evidenced by innumerable road improvements and new housing and shopping complexes. There was security personnel on both sides of the border. People were on the street; trucks of construction supplies were going in all directions; people were smiling. I have never felt safer. The wait at the border? There was none. Really, none. Not a single car in the sentri line, and at the walk through there were open stations waiting to check passports.
